And so they meet again.

The Harmony Grove Hornets and Lady Hornets will travel to play the Bearden Bears and Lady Bears tonight with games starting at 5 p.m.

While the outcome is anything but written, there is one thing basketball fans can expect for sure and that is a couple of very competitive games.

The Bearden Bears and the H.G. Lady Hornets have dominated the rivalry over the last three years, but if this season’s first two meetings of the school on the hardwood have served as any indicator, things can change in a second.

As a matter of fact, the Hornets led the Bears in the first meetings, and it came down to a last-second block by Kendrick Juniel after a late three pointer from Robert Miller for the Bears to come back and win. The Bears met the Hornets again at the Camden Fairview Holiday Classic and had to survive a 30-point output from Xaylon Falls to walk away with a 75-68 victory to keep its winning streak over the Hornets.

The Hornets will face a Bears team that is confident after beating Junction City on Friday, 65-64 on the road. The Hornets played the conference leading Parkers Chapel Trojans on Monday and fell in defeat, 51-36.

-The Lady Hornets and Lady Bears set for round three-

The Lady Hornets and Lady Bears games have gone similar to the boys’games.

A lot has changed since the Lady Hornets blasted the Lady Bears in November, 46-24.

The young Lady Bears played H.G. to a one-possession game when the two met in the Holiday Classic before ultimately losing, 54-51.

H.G. has been playing without leading scorer Sidney Pigott for nearly a month now, but still has some big wins on its resume. One of those wins came on Monday when it defeated Parkers Chapel, 46-38.
