Janis Sharp

— Janis Sharp

Janis Sharp, 73, of Camden, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, July 6, 2019.

She was born on Sept. 27, 1945, in Camden, to Kermit and Ora Baxley McLelland. She was a wife, a mother, and a “mamaw” - the three things in life Janis cherished being the most. She was the backbone of the family and always made sure to put everyone before herself. Janis lived her life full of happiness and laughter. To know this woman was to love this woman. She was so headstrong and never minded speaking exactly how she felt, but had a heart of gold and would give the shirt off of her back to anybody. Family meant everything to her!

Janis lived by a daily routine: Spend the morning eating breakfast with Tracy, waiting to see Tayler before she left for work, spend the evening with Samantha, going riding with Buddy, calling Samantha at 7 p.m. and spending the rest of her night watching TV with Buddy and Colton. One thing the family will always remember is Janis during football season yelling “WOO PIG!” She sure did love calling her hogs and “coaching” them through the TV when they weren’t playing to her standards.

The family says: “We will always cherish the memories we shared with you and not a day goes by that we won’t miss you. While we mourn the loss of an amazing woman, we also know that we gained a beautiful angel who will continue to watch over us every single day until we get there. This is not a goodbye but a see you again because we know when we make it, you will be waiting with your arms wide open with a huge smile on your face telling us you’ve been waiting and what all you’ve been doing. Samantha just wants her mamaw to know that she will continue to take care of your baby and for you to take care of her mamaw until you meet again. We will see you one day, Janis, and we love you more than words could ever begin to explain. Love You Always, Buddy, Tracy, Baby, Dootie, Bear.”

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Ray McLelland; and sisters, Linda Neil Margis and Carolyn Ann Landrum.

She is survived by her husband, Walter Sharp of Camden; daughter, Tracy Hefferman and husband, Mike, of Camden; sister, Betty Kay Milhollan of Texas; grandson, Colton Rogers; granddaughters, Samantha Rogers and Tayler Rogers - all of Camden; and numerous family and friends.
