Living Word plans for

a women’s convention

Living Word Christian Center will present a “Women Empowering Women Convention” from July 26-27 at the Charles O. Ross Center, 746 California Ave.

At 7 p.m. on Friday, July 26, the guest speaker will be Dr. Brenda Jefferson of Covenant Faith Praise Worship Center in Sherwood. That night’s inspirational speaker will be Glenda Williams of the Arkansas Fourth Jurisdiction in Arkadelphia.

On Saturday, July 27, a meet-and-greet will be held at 10 a.m., with workshops starting at 10:30 a.m. Lunch will be serviced at noon, and there will be a fashion show at 3:30 p.m. with vendors and chances for door prizes throughout. Workshops will include presentations on beauty, weight loss, breast cancer awareness, and finance.

Rising Star Baptist Church on Arkansas 7 North in Amy will hold its Annual Usher’s Day program at 11 a.m. on Sunday, July 28. At the event, a tribute to the ushers will be presented by Joyce McIntrye.

St. James AME Church, 241 Center St., will celebrate its 151st church anniversary at 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 28. Guests will be Merdis Mashell McHenry and the Young Circuit of Rosston. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.

The guests will be the Rev. Frankie Mitchel and members of Haynes Chapel Baptist Church of Hope. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Bethel AME Church of 515 N. Madison Ave. will hold its Annual Family and Friends Day at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 28.

The guest speaker will be the Rev. Beth Waldrup, senior paster at First United Methodist Church. Music will be provided by the June Rogers Youth Ensemble.

host its homecoming

New Mt. Hebron Missionary Baptist Church, 2417 Smackover Road, will hold a homecoming service at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4. The guest speaker will be Bishop Jacovis Davis.

The guest choir will be from The Word Family Church. Lunch will be served at 1:30 p.m.

Mt. Gillard Missionary Baptist Church will hold a homecoming program at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4. The guest will be the Rev. Randle Kay of Mt. Ephesus Baptist Church of Prescott.

The church will also hold revival services at 7 p.m. nightly from Aug. 5-7.

The Rev. Daryl Hope will be the evangelist for the event.

The choir on Aug. 5 will be from Greater Grace Church in Camden; on Aug. 6, from Morning Star #2 Church in El Dorado; and on Aug. 7, from St. Stephens Church of Stephens.
