The Camden News All County Softball Team was recently selected by the CN Staff and Ouachita County Coaches. Each team coach sent in its nominees for the top nine spots based on record and statistics.
Listed in alphabetical order are Lexi Betts, Halley Bryant, Bailey Carmody, Anna Dawson, Hunter Fletcher, India Garcia, Molly Ray, Evie Porter and Jaylah Williams.
Honorable mention went to C.F.’s Alexia Bryant, and Tania Dandridge, H.G.’s Synthia English and Bearden’s Taylor Hall.
The All County Baseball team is as follows: Gannon Bearden, Gunner Branch, Payton Byrd, Riley Klober, Landon McMahen, Garrett McWhorter, Jayce Posey, C.J. Quarles, and Cohen Word.
Honorable mention went to C.F.’s Oren McCoy, D.X. Moore and H.G.’s Brad Launius.
The All County Baseball and Softball teams bolster several student athletes that are signed to continue their careers on the next level and even has an all state performer in C.F.’s Klober.
H.G.’s Halley Bryant missed the Arkansas All State Softball team by just one spot. C.F.’s Lexi Betts inked a letter of intent to further her softball career and Arkansas State and Bailey Carmody signed to play softball at Kilgore College.
Bearden’s Porter is also set to further her softball career along with H.G.’s English at SAU Tech.
C.F’s Klober garnered Arkansas All State honors for his performance on the field. He had a solid batting average and was one of the most dependable third basemen in the conference.
Byrd and Branch both had outstanding season’s at sophomore helping bolster C.F. to the state playoffs for the first time in more than five years.
H.G.’s Bearden continues a stellar senior campaign from football to the baseball diamond and was solid on the mound.
While Bearden struggled in season play, McWhorter and Word were solid at bat and Quarles won the school’s pitching award.
