Harmony Grove defeats Fordyce on the road

The Harmony Grove Hornets start conference play 1-0 after a big 13-3 win against Fordyce on Monday.

Freshman Bradley Launius pitched all five innings for the Hornets to earn the win. He retired 10 Fordyce batters and only allowed two hits.

Senior Landon McMahen hit a triple during the game, earned two runs and an RBI. Carson Everett was 1/3 with three RBIs and a run. Gannon Bearden was 1/3 with two RBI’s.

Zach Smith was .500 on the day and also tallied two RBIs.

Jayce Posey added two RBIs.

Posey stole two bases in the game with McMahen, Everett, Chase Stanburry and Bearden also stealing a base.

The team fielded at 85 percent.

The game was tight early as H.G. only led 2-1 entering the second inning. From there, the Hornets would roll off six runs in the second, three in the third and single in the fourth inning while keeping Fordyce off the boards until two runs in the bottom of the fifth.
