— Choctaw Nation visits Camden

Members of the Choctaw Nation pose for a photo as they visit downtown Camden. The group was following in the footsteps of their ancestors who walked the Trail of Tears and passed through the area. According to History.com, the U.S. government forced native tribes to vacate lands they had lived on for generations. In the winter of 1831, the Choctaw became the first nation to be expelled from its land altogether.
