Sex offender charged with living close to school

— A Camden man has been charged with one count of a registered offender living near a school, a class D felony and one count of failure to register or comply with sex offender registration, a class C felony according to documents filed with Ouachita County District Court.

On July 3, Euguene McDonald, 41, reported to the Camden Police Departmetnt to change his address from Little Rock to Camden. It was found that the address, 939 Truman Street, was within 2,000 feet of Camden Fairview Middle School. McDonald was advised he could not live at the residence because of its proximity to the school. McDonald then told officers he would return to Little Rock.

CPD was then notified by the parole office that McDonald, a level three sex offender, had not reported to his assigned parole officer.

Officers went to the address and a male resident told them that McDonald was not home, but had been living at the home for several months.

McDonald was arrested on Oct. 2.

He was given a $15,000 bond and currently remains incarcerated in Ouachita County Detention Center.
