Week 6 Players of the Week announced

— The Camden News has released its Week 6 Players of the Week.

The “Players of the Week” feature is sponsored by Farmers Bank & Trust.

A combination of statistics, impact and coaches’ nominations are taken into consideration to determine the Players of the Week.

This week’s Players of the Week consists of four juniors a sophomore and a senior from Ouachita County.

Harmony Grove junior running back Mecca Arnold scored the three touchdown for the Hornets on a lopsided 54-7 win over Horatio on Homecoming night.

HG senior quarterback Zach Smith through two touchdown passes against Horatio and also logged time on defense.

Camden Fairview junior Jaden Bates had the lone touchdown for the Cardinals in a 7-6 loss to Magnolia last week on a 50 yard screen pass for a touchdown. He was also credited for a big blocked field goal during the game.

C.F. slot receiver and safety Dashaire Ford-Burton had a big interception late in the game to keep CF in striking distance.

Bearden junior Torrie Hartley was one of the teams leading tacklers in a game against Parkers Chapel last week.

Bearden sophomore Oshay Yarbrough led the team in tackles and was praised by his coach for his efforts.

Honorable mention

H.G.’s Zachary Lansdell scored on a fumble recovery to help put the game out of reach early for the Hornets. Damion Daniels had two touchdown receptions.

C.F.’s Kyron Kidd was credited for several stops on the defensive line and had a 37 yard return on a blocked field goal to put the Cardinals in Magnolia territory.

CF’s Eric Albert and Amari Pace had big games at linebacker for C.F. and played a key role in limiting Magnolia to only 22 net yards in the second half. Jacobie Williams was credited with three tackles for losses along with sophomore Jacarvie Barker.
