First Friday Market will be held on Sept. 6

— First Friday returns to downtown Camden September 6 with the return of its “A Taste of Camden” event. Which provides samples of various foods in exchange for tickets.

A press release from the organization states, “Join us September 6 – 9pm in downtown Camden as First Friday Market brings you ‘A Taste of Camden’. Come enjoy all the different foods of your favorite restaurants, caterers, and dessert makers. Tasting tickets will be available to purchase for $1.00 each. Choose as many different foods as you like for one ticket per choice.”

The featured author at A Frame of Mind will be Emily Eckert Massey.

Massey’s love for food began as a young child cooking with her mom, who was always creating unique and healthy dishes in Camden, Arkansas. Studying at the University of Arkansas, Massey received a B.S. in Dietetics. Instead of taking the typical career path of a dietitian, she decided to further her knowledge of food by attending Florida Culinary Institute where she received a double degree in International Pastry and Culinary Arts. Her passion for cooking led her to create a personal chef business, Simply Scrumptious, LLC. She operated Simply Scrumptious, LLC in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, before moving to their home in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where she lives with her husband, Jeff, and daughter, Kate.

Massey’s goal is to create beautiful dishes and to teach people how to make healthy and delicious foods by using all their senses.

Charlotte Young, an organizer of the event said, “Come out that Taste the great food from our Camden restaurants, bakers and caterers. If you have ever wondered if you would like one of the specialties someone has, this will be the time to try it out. We start at 6PM, so you have time to come downtown before the football game - for all the sports fans….or come on out and enjoy the entire evening with us.”

Rajveer Kang, another organizer said, “Taste of Camden was one of the crowd favorites last year, we had so many attendees tell us to bring it back this year. It’s such a great opportunity for our locals or neighbors to learn about the great food available right here in Camden. We have at least 10 restaurants signed up so far, with a few more applications coming in. Now that’s just our restaurant vendors, we will still have a full market with music, crafts and activities beyond that. You can buy one dollar tickets from our merchant booth and hand them into any of our restaurant vendors to get a tasting portion of a staple item that they serve. We have so many delicious things that restaurants will be serving. You literally won’t have another opportunity like this!”
