— The Ouachita County Fair is being held at the Ouachita County Recreational Center - the former Fairview High School - at 2708 Mt Holly Road and will be held through Sept. 14. Today is:

• Sr. Citizens Day

From 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Includes free hot dogs and drinks, with games of Bingo.

Today’s schedule:

• Noon - Swine weights due in office

• 5 p.m. - Gates open

• 6 p.m. - Carnival opens

• 6 p.m. - Beef & Swine Show

• 6:30 p.m. - Pee Wee Cheer Competition

• 10 p.m. - Gates close.

Ouachita County Fair Board President Keith Ballard told the Camden News that even though the fair is not being held at its usual spot at the fairgrounds near the airport in East Camden, the event will still offer 4-H and FFA programs and all the features traditionally offered at a county fair including rabbits, chickens goats, hogs, carnival rides. and concession stands.

Plus there will be exhibits showcasing all the local talent, everything from preserved fruits and vegetables, baked items, hand crafted quilts, crafts, photography, and much.

COST:

Admission – $5

Armbands – $20.

Parking is free.

TIMES:

Carnival opens at 6 p.m. today and Friday and at noon on Saturday.

FRIDAY:

Friday is Kids Day beginning at 8 a.m. for kindergarten and preschool children.
