CAMDEN — Gilbert Vela
Gilbert Vela, 69, died at his home on Sept. 10, 2019.
He was born on Aug. 8, 1950, in Harlingen, Texas.
He worked as an auto mechanic all his life. Gilbert enjoyed spending time outdoors, where he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Amber Richardson.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Amanda Jean Vela of Camden; two daughters, Amanda Pittman of Chidester and Melissa Vela of Camden; grandchildren, Ashley Bolser (Jordan) of Stephens, Tyler Vela (Courtney Taylor) of Camden and Nico Schoen of Germany; great-grandchildren, Haydyn and Marylyn Bolser of Stephens and Caleb Vela of Camden; siblings, Maria West and Jessie Smith - both of Camden, Linda Overstreet of Indiana and Van Smith of Mena; and many nieces and nephews.
Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 14, at New Hope Cemetery in Woodberry.
