CME Temple Church

plans special services

CME Temple Church, 414 Adams Ave. N.W., will hold a two-day event for its 4th Annual Choir Anniversary services beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, with a musical program with choirs and praise dancers.

At 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, the guest speaker will be the Rev. Nancy Lott of Koinonia of Grace Church. Food will be served.

Buena Vista Church

set homecoming day

Buena Vista United Methodist Church, 215 Ouachita 5 off of U.S. 79, will hold its 160th homecoming celebration at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22.

The speaker will be Ellen Horseman, and a potluck lunch will follow the service. The church was established in 1859 as Ten Springs Methodist Episcopal Church South.

This ‘little church in the wildwood’ first appeared in the conference appointments in 1864. The circuit was called Buena Vista, Camden-Ouachita.

sets Annual Choir Day

Rising Star Baptist Church in Amy will hold its Annual Choir Day program will be held at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22.

The Chidester Community Choir Appreciation program will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22, at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 200 Pleasant Hill Road in Chidester.

The guest speaker will be the Rev. Marshal Allen, and the guest church will be Eastern Star Baptist Church of Gurdon. Lunch will be served.

set homecoming event

Mt. Zinia Baptist Church in Stephens will hold its Annual Homecoming program at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22. The guests will be the Rev. Jeffery Franklin and Greater St. Paul Baptist Church.

Pilgrim Rest plans an

event to honor pastor

Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church will celebrate the 37th anniversary of its pastor, the Rev. J.H. Hayes Jr., at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 22. The guest speaker will be Supt. Ronald Matheney.

Cowboy Trail Church

sets benefit trail ride

The Calvary Trail Cowboy Church at the Beech Springs Church Camp on 317 Ouachita 68 in Louann, will hold a 1st Annual CTCC Benefit Trail Ride, Lunch and Auction on Sept. 27-28.A donation-only dinner will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27. All proceeds will benefit the CTCC Building Fund.

Wagon teams and horseback riders are welcome at the event at 9 a.m. on Sept. 28 at a cost of $15, with those under five years of age participating for free.

The ride will be in low-traffic areas, and flaggers will be provided for the county-road portions. No alcohol or drug allowed, and a negative Coggins test for each animal is required. All kicking stock must have a red flag on the tail

Cullendale Church to

have gospel program

Cullendale Church of Christ, 2707 Mt. Holly Road, will hold a “Fall Gospel Meeting” with Larry Acuff from Sept. 29 - Oct. 2.

Acuff preaches at Lithia Springs Church of Christ in Lithia Springs, Georgia, where he also serves as an elder.

He is a graduate of Faulkner University, of Tennessee Tech University, and is an honorary alumni of the Memphis School of Preaching.

He and his wife- Janet Kinnaird Acuff - have been married for 57 years, and they have two children and five grandchildren.

The programs on schedule are:

• Sept. 29 at 9 a.m., Bible class: “Breaking the alabaster Box;” at 10 a.m. worship - “The Economics of Love;” and at 1 p.m., “Enthusiasm for Evangelism.

• Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. - “Building and Battling

• Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. - “The Church of Faith, Hope and Love”

• Oct. 2 at 7 p.m. “Get a Life”
