Week 2 Players of the Week

— The Camden News has released its Week 2 Players of the Week.

The “Players of the Week” feature is sponsored by Farmers Bank & Trust.

A combination of statistics, impact and coaches’ nominations are taken into consideration to determine the Players of the Week.

This week’s Players of the Week consists of three seniors and two juniors.

Junior running back Erik Hall rushed 19 times for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Hall has already eclipsed the 300 rushing yards mark in only six quarters of play after cramps cut his game short in Week 1.

Junior safety Peyton Byrd returned an interception for 57 yards against the Hamburg Lions. He was also 5 total tackles - two for losses - and he also had a blocked punt.

Harmony Grove’s Zach Smith found the end zone twice for the Hornets - one on a 38 yard pass to Damion Daniel and another time on a seven yard run.

H.G.’s Daniel Hicks had to play a lot of time on defense against Fordyce. He also logs time on the offense and was nominated by his coach as a Player of the Week.

Bearden’s Jalen Wade began the season as a running back but does it all for the Bears. He is a linebacker on defense and has line up a quarterback, wide receiver and running back for Bearden.

Honorable mention

Harmony Grove’s Damian Daniel reeled in a 38 yard touchdown pass and had a big kick off return just before the half against Fordyce.

H.G.’s Xaylon Falls scored a touchdown and a two point conversion for the Hornets.

C.F.’s Offensive Line didn’t allow a sack against the Hamburg Lions and played a critical role in allowing the Cardinals to rush for 385 yards.

Bearden’s Dominic Hammonds and Jalen Cones lined up a quarterback for the shorthanded Bearden Bears and were able to lead their teams on scoring drives.
