Man gets probation in hindering case

A Camden man charged with the hindering the apprehension of Jory Worthen, who officials believe is responsible for the deaths of Alyssa Cannon and her son Braydon Ponder, accepted a guilty plea last week in Ouachita County Court.

Woods was sentenced under the First Offender Act to five years probation.

A court affidavit states, “As the investigation continued, information led investigators to interview Montez Woods, who had been named as a person of interest in assisting Worthen. From speaking with Woods, his statement was he met with Worthen on June 27, 2019 outside Chidester and provided Worthen with $400 in cash. There was evidence obtained which indicated Woods making a comment ‘I feel bad cause that girl died and I’m the only person that knew where he was at.”“

Worthen was reported to have been last seen in Georgia. In November, a Facebook post from a Georgia bonding company stated that Jory Worthen was reportedly seen in Sylvester, Georgia, at a Shell station .

The post from Gonzalez Bonding Company went ot to say Worthen was seen with a black male with dreadlocks driving a a late-model, red Camaro.

Worthen is said to have been wearing dark jeans, a black T-shirt and a blue ball cap. The post also states that he was clean shaven and had longer dark-colored hair.

His current whereabouts are unknown.

Worthen is 6’2” 157 pounds, with brown hair and eyes.Worthen has multiple tattoos with some on the underside of both forearms near his elbow. On the underside of Worthen’s right forearm the words “Matthew 7· 6” are tattooed. In addition, Worthen has a tattoo on his right hand. He also has tattoos on his chest, one of which is a skull with wings, and he has a tattoo of barbed wire on his left bicep.
