Camden Fairview board will meet Tuesday

— The Camden Fairview School District Board of Education will have its regular schedule meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Garrison Auditorium.

The majority of the meeting is projected to focus on 2020 school related plans from the area’s elected officials. Of the 14 items on Tuesday night’s agenda, three of them involve politicians. The first presentation will be from State Rep. Sonia Barker and District 5 Representative David Fielding, the second presentation will be from Camden Mayor Julian Lott, and a third will be from Ouachita County Judge Robbie McAdoo. CFSD attorney Allen Roberts and Whitney Moore are also tabbed

to give a presentation.

In the “New Business” portion of the meeting, the board will discuss a recommendation regarding a transfer request to the Smackover School District.

During December’s meeting, the board voted to table the request until the January meeting because the parent wasn’t present to provide more details regarding why she wanted her child to go to another district. CFSD Superintendent Fred Lilly said that he met with the parent prior to the meeting and sent a letter inviting her to attend the meeting. The school board ultimately agreed to table the request until they could hear from her directly.
