Suspect turns himself in after reportedly shooting clerk

A suspect is in custody after allegedly robbing the Dollar General in Bearden. Two clerks were hospitalized as a result of the robbery, with one suffering a gunshot wound to the

head.

Kobe Miller, 21, later turned himself in to the Calhoun County Sheriff Department around 11:00 a.m. Monday.

According to the Bearden Police Department, the Ouachita Sheriff’s Department received a 911 phone call from the Dollar General at 562 W. Jordan Ave. in Bearden reporting an armed robbery.

The Ouachita County Sheriff’s Department, Bearden Police Department, East Camden Police Department and Ouachita County Emergency Medical Services responded. Both clerks were transported to the Ouachita County Medical Center for treatment. One clerk received a gunshot wound to the head and was later transported by helicopter to UAMS. The second clerk was treated for injuries from a physical altercation that took place with the suspect.

The suspect was identified as Kobe Juwan Miller, 21, of Columbia, Missouri. Miller fled from law enforcement on foot shortly after the incident occurred. A search of Miller’s grandmothers nearby apartment was conducted. The suspected firearm used in the robbery, clothing and money were recovered from the apartment. The suspect’s shoe and wallet were also recovered

near the apartment.’

Bearden Police Chief Nathan Greeley said the clerk was alert and answering questions about the robbery and that physicians are weighing surgery to remove the .22 caliber

Miller is currenlty housed in Ouachita County Detention Center where he is charged with commercial burglrary and intent to commit capital

murder.
