Gov. Asa Hutchinson announced a target of May 6 for re-opening barber, cosmetology, massage therapy, body art and medical spa services today.
At his daily COVID-19 update today, Hutchinson outlined the restrictions that will remain in place for the businesses that provide those services and guidelines for safe practice. Those include:
-having only 10 or fewer people inside the facilities, and at larger facilities having no more than 30% of stations in operation
-no walk-in appointments
-clients should be asked to wait in their vehicles until their appointment
-time between appointments must be left to clean and sanitize stations
-a six-foot distance must be maintained between stations and for clients in waiting areas
-client names and contact information must be recorded
-those particularly vulnerable to COVID-19, including elderly and immunocompromised people, should consider staying home
-face coverings are required for staff
-clients must also wear face coverings when possible
-gloves must be worn
-hands must be washed before and after services are provided
-staff and clients must be screened for COVID-19
-services should be postponed if a client or staff member exhibits symptoms of COVID-19 (even if the symptoms are presumed to be attributable to allergies)
-facilities must be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected regularly
The updated guidance for these facilities does not apply to schools.
