A suspect in the stabbing death of a Camden man is set to make her first appearance in front of a judge this afternoon.

Sherika Holliman, 36, is being charged with first degree murder following the stabbing death of Haywood Lucas.

According to Camden Police Department Chief Bo Woody, the incident occurred around 4 p.m. on July 5. He stated that Holliman brought Lucas to the Ouachita County Emergency Room with a single stab wound to the chest. Holliman said that she and Lucas were together at a home in West Camden Heights when Lucas left for five minutes and returned with the stab wound. Holliman was questioned and denied involvement in Lucas' death but enough evidence was collected to make an arrest. Woody said the couple has had a history of domestic altercations.

"Her story just didn't add up," Woody said. "Lucas was stabbed in the upper chest and it cut a main artery. The ER doctor said that (Lucas) wouldn't have survived even if he was stabbed at the ER. We did call Ouachita County Coroner Sylvester Smith and we sent Lucas' body to the crime lab because it is being investigated as a murder. What we believe is they got into a fight and she stabbed him."

Woody stated that CPD was back on the scene this morning at the residence collecting more evidence. Holliman will go before a judge at 2 p.m. today to be advised of formal charges.
