Sophomore guard Allen Taylor named SAU Tech's ACC Academic All-Star

From the moment he arrived on campus, SAU Tech basketball star sophomore guard Allen Taylor was destined for greatness.

In his first season with the SAU Tech Rockets last year, Taylor averaged a team-high of 15 points per game shooting 48.7% on field-goals. Taylor also averaging 5.8 rebounds per game and 2.5 assists per game. He helped the Rockets account for an overall of 20-5 and 9-1 in conference play.

His tenacious shooting and playmaking on both sides of the court make him one of the best players in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). His greatest performance last season was his 31 point performance on the road against the North Arkansas Pioneers. Taylor shot for 10-for-19 in field goals (52.6%), 4-for-6 in three-point shooting (66.7%) and was 7-for-8 from the free-throw line (87.5%). He also accounted for ten rebounds, five assists, four steals and one block.

Taylor can add one more recognition for his success on-and-off the basketball court; on Thursday, Taylor was named SAU Tech's 2021-2022 ACC Academic All-Star. This award is given to Taylor for his greatness on the court as well as in the classroom. In addition to the award, he will be given a book scholarship, be recognized at the Arkansas Community College state conference and have his choice of a transfer scholarship to any four-year school in the state of Arkansas.

Taylor will be accepting his award in the fall at the ACC's annual conference.
