First Friday hosts 'Downtown Get Down'

"Downtown Get Down" will be the theme for the First Friday Market on Oct. 1 in downtown Camden from 6 to 9 p.m.

According to a press release, former "American Idol" contestant Jacob Flores will perform at this month's event. The Henderson University award-winner was voted the Hot Springs Sentinel-Record's reader's choice best local performance three years in a row.

Flores will perform at the park at Washington and Adams.

Hollis Evans Floral will play host to author Niki Benton Smith, of El Dorado. Her books include "Nightingale," "Last Dance" and "Secrets."

An array of vendors will be set up along Washington Street and Adams Avenue selling everything from wood workings, clothing, jewelry and more. Special nonprofit groups and local organizations will also have booths throughout the market teaching bicycle safety, operating carnival games and handing out water. Jellies, jams, baked goods and homemade pasta will be sold at this month's market.

Bills & Dimes food truck and Mr. Wendell's Mobile Kitchen will be on hand this month as well.

Downtown merchants will be open late for shopping convenience offering First Friday specials.
