After a stormy day Wednesday, authorities are back to searching for a 17 year old boy who disappeared in the Ouachita River on Sunday.

A mobile command post has been set up near the River Walk landing in Camden with a number of different organizations volunteering to help.

In a post on social media Wednesday afternoon, the Camden Police Department said search efforts resumed at 5 p.m. that day.

"At 5 p.m. there were roughly 14 boats on the river. Several dive teams within the state and out of state have contacted us inquiring about the recovery efforts. We have a team from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, The United Cajun Navy will be arriving before noon," the post said.

CPD Public Information Officer Dana Wetherbee said, "We stopped probably about 10:30 (a.m.) til 3 (p.m.). That did hinder us, but as soon as the wind died down and slacked up just a little bit we got back out there."

She noted that several organizations are assisting the CPD in the recovery effort

She said, "The Cajun Navy is in, they have done their sonar looking in some areas. They have also brought a dog to aid in the recovery. Of course the (Ouachita) Sheriff's Office is out, so is the Fire Department and so are we."

Union County Sheriff Ricky Roberts participated Tuesday night, she said.

Wetherbee said, "He was in the night before last and ran this section of the river until 3 o'clock in the morning with the equipment he has."

The Ouachita River had dropped to 15 feet on Thursday afternoon, down from near 28 earlier in the week.

Community members have dropped off water, food and supplies for personnel.

Wetherbee said she wanted to thank the community for their help.

"If anyone wants to drop off anything, we make sure that we let everyone know that we have supplies up here and they're more than welcome to drop off, if they don't feel comfortable dropping up here they can take it the Police Department," she said.
