Cardinals win against Hamburg, 7-4

The Camden Fairview Cardinal Baseball Team (9-7, 5-2) picked up its fourth consecutive win in dramatic fashion on Tuesday when they upended the Hamburg Lions, 7-4.

Junior Arkansas Razorback signee Martavious Thomas hit a walkoff triple to seal the game for the home team. Dayson Connelly earned the win for the Cardinals on the mound.

Hamburg struck first after scoring on a walk in the first inning and would score with a double in the second.

Carson Mckinney would get on base for the Cardinals and Jaxson Bradshaw would follow it up with a big hit. Ben McKinney kept the momentum going and was able to hit a ground ball to score Carson.

In the bottom of the third, AJ Alsobrook hit a single over leftfield and Grant Jeffus would do the same before Thomas hit a double to score Alsobrook. Carson Mckinney would find the ball again on his next at bat and Jeffus would score on a catcher's error to put CF ahead 3-2. Carson was also able to steal a base before the home team picked up its third out.

Hamburg would score a couple of runs in the fourth before CF tied it when Colton DeWoody was able to bring Logan Robertson home.

Tied at 4, in the bottom of the 8th, Alsobrook got on base after being hit by a pitch. Then he stole second and Jeffus was walked to first base. A pitching error advanced each before the big hit from Thomas to end the game. The Cardinals are second in conference play and will host Warren on Friday.

Lady Cardinals fall to Hamburg

The Camden Fairview Lady Cardinals (7-4, 3-2) lost to Hamburg at home on Monday, by a score of 14-1. CF was undermanned entering the contest due to illness. The loss dropped the Lady Cardinals to third place with several conference games left in the season.
