The Camden Fairview Cardinals boys and girls golf team have a tough start to the 2022 season on August 1. The young team filled with newcoming players did not meet the goals head coach Troy Keith set, but he knew they would find their rhythm soon.

That rhythm came for the boys' team this past Thursday as the Cardinals hosted Crossett, Hope, and Smackover in the Camden Country Club. The boys' varsity team finished in first place in the match on Thursday with an overall score of 261. Crossett's boys team finished second in the match with an overall score of 293. Camden Fairview's boys' junior varsity team tied with Smackover's boys' team for third place at 321.

Cardinals senior golfer Cade Woods came in first place in the match by accounting for a score of 83. Following Woods in second place is Cardinals senior Jaxson Bradshaw, as he accounted for a score of 88. Junior Andy Hobbie and senior Carson McKinney each accounted for a score of 95.

On the Cardinals' junior varsity team, junior Grant Jeffus accounted for a score of 102. Following Jeffus was freshman Will De Luca at 105, junior Maddox Hutchenson at 114 and Fisher Keown at 126.

The Lady Cardinals varsity team finished in second place with an overall score of 314, just 15 points off the first place team in Smackover. Tori Milton of Smackover finished in first place of the match of the girls' competition with a score of 71. Camden Fairview junior Emily Robertson took second place in the match by finishing with a score of 96. Following her for third place in the match was fellow Lady Cardinal in junior Kynlee Carmen, who finished with an overall score of 106. Lady Cardinals junior Abby Word finished with an overall score of 112 and sophomore Emily Pickett finished with an overall score of 134.

The boys' and girls' teams for the Camden Fairview Cardinals saw significant improvement from one match to another. This is a progression that coach Keith has been feeling confident about, with both teams being young but full of potential.
