A Stephens man was awaiting a first appearance Monday on charges of attempted murder stemming from a shooting incident Friday afternoon.
Jerome Tullis , 56, has been charged with attempted murder, terroristic threatening, eight counts of terroristic acts and one count of criminal mischief in the first degree.
According to a Camden Police Department report, on December 2 at approximately 3 o'clock p.m officers were dispatched to Dunning Street in response to a shots fired call.
Upon arrival the officer was flagged down by Jerome Tullis, who claimed he called 911 after an unknown male pulled a gun on Tullis. Tullis told police he pulled out his own weapon and fired at the male, hitting a car parked nearby.
Tullis later told police he shot at the car because the male was going for a gun in the vehicle.
The owner of the vehicle spoke with police and stated her boyfriend had been driving in her vehicle. When police spoke to her boyfriend he stated that he had been with a group of people, among who Tullis was present, but he did not personally know Tullis.
The male stated Tullis pulled a gun on him and started to shoot the car when he entered it to get away.
The male stated he took off on foot after the car would not start.
While speaking with the male, Tullis made several threats against his life. The report notes that Tullis was sitting down and could not see the male very well but did look at him a few times.
Tullis was placed into custody without incident
