Camden man arrested on numerous charges after high speed chase

A Camden man is in Ouachita County Detention Center awaiting his first appearance on a variety of charges after a high speed chase in which his car flipped fives times, according to a report from Camden Police Department.

Keno Bowens, 22, of Camden is charged with fleeing, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless driving, speeding, DWI, 4 counts of running a stop sign, 2 counts of running a red light, no seatbelt, driving on a suspended licence, drinking on they highway and refusal to submit to a BAC.

According to a police report on June 5 at 4:17 a.m. two Camden police officers were in the 500 block of Carver Courts when a they allegedly saw a red Nissan Altima make a U-turn and strike a tan Chevy Malibu.

The officers began to initiate a traffic stop, but Bowens, the alleged driver of the vehicle, refused to stop and also rolled through several stop signs.

The report states that from Skyline Drive to Cash Road the vehicle reached speed of 100 miles per hour and ran the stoplight at the intersection of Hwy 278 and Country Club Road.

The officers state that the car then reached speeds of 115 miles per hour and began to fishtail. It then left the roadway and rolled five consecutive times.

The officers approached the vehicle with weapons drawn and reported seeing Bowens crawl out of the back window.

He was then taken into custody and refused medical treatment.

The report states a half empty bottle of Bacardi Gold was found in the vehicle and Bowens refused a breath test.
