Camden man found dead in car

A Camden man was found dead in a vehicle Wednesday afternoon, according to a Camden Police report.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, CPD Officer Stephen Carneal was dispatched to the corner of Hawthorne Street and Fairview Road following a report from an Arkansas State Trooper that a vehicle was off the road. Emergency medical services (EMS) were also contacted.

Upon arrival, Carneal made contact with an ASP trooper at the scene, who was standing next to a blue Hyundai with Louisiana tags. Christopher Allen Hines, 46, of Camden was inside the vehicle, slumped over, with his feet on the dashboard, according to the CPD report.

Hines did not have a pulse when the ASP trooper checked, according to the report.

A relative of Hines's told police she had been working with him on the vehicle before she left for work approximately two hours before he was found dead. She told police Hines had been known to use drugs.

Carneal noted in the police report that he had passed Hines and the woman while they were working on the vehicle around 3:15 p.m., and Hines appeared to be alive at that time.

Hines's body was sent to the Arkansas State Crime lab for an autopsy. An investigation into his death is ongoing.
