Camden Fairview Cardinals shutout Hope Bobcats 49-0 at home

The Camden Fairview Cardinals (7-1, 5-0) earned a consecutive shutout when they defeated the Hope Bobcats (1-7, 1-4), 49-0.

The Cardinals put up 21 points in the first quarter and 14 in the second before adding two more touchdowns in the second half during the Sportsmanship rule.

CF was nearly unstoppable on both sides of the ball, amassing nearly 600 yards in total offense and holding Hope to only 49 total offensive yards. Nasir Khan was 7/7 on PATs and kicked the ball into the end zone throughout the night to nearly nullify Hope's special teams.

After deferring to the second half, CF forced Hope to go three and out. Hope punted to the Cardinal 40 and AJ Alsobrook fielded the ball and rolled through a tackler by keeping his knees off the ground and racing 37 yards. Jymarion Hopson would catch a 12-yard pass from Martavious Thomas before Alsobrook would score on a rush from 10 yards out. Khan would add the PAT with 10:10 left in the first.

The Cardinal defense forced another three and out and would score on a one-play drive when Thomas hit Jarvis Reed in stride for a 60-yard touchdown.

Later in the quarter, Thomas would score on a 28-yard quarterback keeper.

In the second, Alsobrook would roll off a big 57-yard run before punching it in the end zone on the next play.

With three minutes left in the half, Thomas found Trent Haygood for a screen pass that went for 40 yards and Alsobrook would score on another two-yard run.

Dar'rel "Juney" Atkins Jr. took over at quarterback in the second half and Kenny Lanford lined up at running back as the offense continued to execute on a high level. Atkins hit a big 40-yard pass to Alsobrook before the ball was fumbled into the endzone, recovered by Haygood in the third quarter, and connected with Jaquavious McKenzie for a 35-yard TD in the fourth.

DJ King tallied three sacks in the game and the Cardinals' secondary only gave up 22 yards in the air on 2/15 passing.

Unofficially, Thomas finished 11/17 for 172 yards and rushed five times for 54 yards. He would score a rushing and a passing touchdown. Alsobrook rushed 11 times for 135 yards and had two receptions for 55 yards to go along with a 37-yard punt return. Reed finished with two receptions for 62 yards. Jaylen Goodwin had a big catch on a third down and finished with two receptions for 29 yards. Haygood had seven receptions for 79 yards and recovered a fumble for a touchdown. Hopson finished with two receptions for 26 yards.

CF will travel to Hot Springs to play the Trojans in a critical 5A South game.
