Former business owner accused of theft of property and damages to building

A Camden woman has been charged with criminal mischief and theft of property after allegedly causing $25,322.83 in damages to a storefront she was leasing.

Jennifer Waters, 56, of Camden was the co-owner of Fantastic Head Games located at 102 W. Washington.

Camden Police Department reported that on May 9, officers were dispatched to the location at the request of the property owner.

Police made contact with him at the store, and he stated that Waters had recently been evicted due to late payments and lease violations. The responding officer observed holes in the roof and walls, exposed wires and and broken glass about the premises.

The police report states that the flooring was torn up as if scraped, and a large wall mounted mirror appeared to have been struck with a blunt object several times. A bathroom and sink had also been removed from the bathroom.

The owner told police he believed Waters caused the damage in retaliation for the eviction.

The owner also noted that six ceiling fans, one light bar, one flood light, the sink, toilet and two fire extinguishers were missing from the property.

Waters had her first appearance on July 18 and was released on a $5,000 bond.
