Camden man is cleared of rape charges

A Camden man was cleared of rape and incest charges during a court hearing on Thursday.

Prosecutor Phillip Stone dropped the charges against Billy Gene Allred, 42, of Camden at the hearing, where he appeared in front of Judge Hamilton Singleton.

Stone said the Crimes Against Children Division investigated the allegations against Allred and found them to be unsubstantiated.

Allred had been held in Ouachita County Detention Center since November of 2021.

Camden Police Detective LaRhonda Moore said that in September of 2021, CPD officers responded to what was originally reported as a civil dispute. A woman who shared a household with Allred said she believed her daughter had been sexually assaulted by Allred for "an extended amount of time," according to Moore.
