A Camden student and HOPE Landing client received a special gift earlier this month thanks to a collaboration between the non-profit and a local business.

Jacob Hull from IBT Industrial Solutions contacts HOPE Landing each December to help fund a new piece of a equipment for a HOPE Landing family, according to Jenny Williams, the organization's director of marketing. This year, the company purchased a specialized car seat for HL client Erik.

Erik, 11 years old and a Camden Fairview Middle School student, has a diagnosis of hypomyelinating leukodystrophy type 2 and receives occupational and physical therapy at HOPE Landing.

The disorder causes Erik to face challenges including struggling to maintain sitting balance and head control due to muscle weakness.

"Erik is a happy boy with a contagious smile," Williams said, adding that the custom supportive car seat will "meet his special needs, enable him to ride safely in the car, and be on the go with his family."

"Many thanks to Jacob and all of the folks at IBT for their continued support of the families at HOPE Landing," Williams concluded.

HOPE Landing is an El Dorado-based non-profit that offers occupational, physical and speech-language therapies to its clients.
