Camden man charged with abuse of two year old

A Camden man has been charged with one count of domestic battery in the 2nd degree and remains in Ouachita County Detention Center on a failure to appear warrant.

Nahumyusef Vinson, 47, also faces counts of aggravated assault of a family member, terroristic threatening and failure to comply in a 2020 case.

According to an incident report, Vinson had several outstanding warrants out of Ouachita County, and when the Camden Police Department served these warrants Vinson failed to comply. During the confrontation Vinson held his two-year-old son, a tactic he had used in the past, according to the report.

The child was turned over to authorities. Scars and bruises covering the child's body were recorded in the incident report.

According to the report, Kim Gill of the Arkansas State Police was called and she coordinated with the Department of Human Services and Arkansas Children's Hospital for an evaluation.

A medical report was submitted stating the child had several skin findings consistent with the appearance of healed, or healing scars. The report noted the findings were consistent with physical abuse given the extent, distribution and pattern of scars.

The affidavit states there are two previous reports of domestic abuse involving Vinson from 2006 and 2007, and three reports of domestic abuse from 2020 to 2022.
