Fred Lilly II honored as May's Betty J Lewis Unsung Hero


Fred Lilly II, has been nominated for the May Betty J Lewis Unsung Hero from SAU Tech.

Lilly II, a Camden, AR, native, graduated from the University of Arkansas at Monticello in 2009 with his bachelor's degree in criminal justice and went on to obtain a master's degree in teaching arts from Mississippi College in 2015 and specialist degrees in principalship and superintendency tracks from Arkansas State University in 2018 and 2021. He is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Education with a focus on Educational Leadership from Liberty University.

He currently serves as the middle school principal of the Camden Fairview School District, on the board of directors for the Arkansas Association of Middle School Level Administrators as the Southwest Zone representative, and on the board of directors of the Arkansas Association of Alternative Educators as the statewide Regional Director Coordinator. He is a former Assistant Principal and High School History/Coach as well. In 2018, he was chosen as the runner-up for the Arkansas Association of Alternative Educators Administrator of the Year.

In 2022, Lilly was recognized as the Young Alumni Rising Star, and he was inducted into the African American Alumni Elite, both at the University of Arkansas at Monticello. Lilly recently received the Phi Beta Sigma Southwestern Region Edward Jordan Advisor of the Year award. He and his wife, Ashley, have three children, Fred III "Trey," Asia, and Langston.
