Dallas County Sheriff Mike Knoedl updated Facebook with the details of two shootings that recently occurred in Fordyce, as well as sentencings that happened in district court.

Knoedl stated in a post that the victim in one shooting was shot twice, but was on Friday released from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital "after undergoing extensive surgery to save his life." A suspect was arrested and remains jailed on $250,000 bond.

A second shooting remains under investigation, he said.

"Luckily, the second incident only resulted in a vehicle being struck by gunfire. I'm begging the community to immediately report any suspicious activity involving firearms. It's just a matter of time before some innocent bystander is hurt or killed by this reckless activity. Before anyone decides to participate in this senseless violence, please know you will change lives forever when you pull the trigger. This is NOT the way to settle disputes," Knoedl wrote.

Knoedl also noted several recent convictions in Dallas County:

  • Matthew Golden was sentenced to three years in the Department of Corrections for possession of a firearm by a felon.
  • Jordan Greene was sentenced to 10 years in the DOC for three counts of criminal mischief. Knoedl said the case involved the destruction and theft of an ATM from Fordyce Bank & Trust.
  • Chekehl Reynolds and Dantaris Cooper were both sentenced to the alternative sentencing program.

Knoedl said Deputy Jordan Ables made an arrest last week involving several firearms and drugs.
