3 charged by Camden PD

The Camden Police Department made three misdemeanor arrests from May 16 to May 21.

Deshayla Pace, 20, of Camden was cited on May 16 and charged with shoplifting

Officer Chanel Bailey was dispatched to Dollar General at California Avenue in reference to a woman who was allegedly shoplifting. The officer went to the store but could not find the suspect; instead she spoke with a store manager, according to a CPD report.

The manager told the officer that she heard two women laughing and giggling and later the sound of a drink being opened inside the store. The manager reportedly confronted the two women and noticed that one of the women appeared to be hiding items inside of her hoodie.

The officer viewed the store's security footage, where she allegedly saw the woman, later identified as Pace, take something out of the cooler. The officer wrote in the CPD report that the woman never appeared to set anything down, but left the store without anything in her hands.

Another officer encountered Pace at Lincoln Center and arrested her.

Willie Lindsey, 40, of Camden was cited on May 21 and charged with possession of a controlled substance.

A CPD officer made a traffic stop on Highway 7 North on May 21 and discovered in the process that Lindsey, the vehicle's driver, had a suspended license. Lindsey was placed in custody and during a search of his vehicle, a CPD officer allegedly found "a black cylinder with a green leafy substance inside."

The vehicle was then towed by Ray's Towing to be retrieved by the owner.

Mariah Norful, 19, of Camden was cited on May 21 and charged with disorderly conduct.

A CPD officer was sent out Carver Courts on an unrelated call, where they found Norful allegedly yelling and "causing a scene." Norful allegedly also confronted others in the vicinity.

The responding officer was unsuccessful in quieting Norful down, the report states, and Norful was subsequently arrested.
