Summer is usually the time for many high school students to lay back and enjoy the time off from school. For an athlete with big dreams and expectations, summer is the perfect chance for an athlete to develop their skills and get better. Harmony Grove's Caleb Johnson and Mason Morgan are among the individuals looking to use this summer to train on the baseball field.

Johnson & Morgan are going into their senior year at Harmony Grove High School this fall, are a part of the SA Baseball Summer League team. Another set of players on the team is former Hornet Braden Brown, who will enroll at the University of Arkansas-Monticello this upcoming fall and Lane Davis, who will to enroll at SAU Tech.

Catcher/shortstop Johnson and pitcher/infielder Morgan are off to strong starts in the summer league for SA Baseball. On May 26, SA Baseball took on the LA Warriors in Tyler, Texas. The SA Baseball team defeated the Warriors with a dominating score of 12-0 due to the stellar pitching of Morgan and the batting of Johnson. In four innings pitched, Morgan didn't a single run or hit while delivering seven strikeouts. Johnson was 2-of-3 at the plate to account for four RBIs and two double-base hits.

Both Johnson and Morgan are picking up right where they are off of an incredible 2023 regular season at Harmony Grove, where the Hornets finished the regular season at 23-6. Johnson was named an All-State player for the third consecutive season this past spring. Johnson finished the season with a .443 batting average, an on-base percentage of .549, 39 hits, a team-high five home runs, 17 walks, 19 stolen bases and 19 strikeouts.

Morgan was among the best pitchers in South Arkansas this past spring on a team full of reliable and talented pitchers. He accounted for a team-high 71 strikeouts and a season ERA of 1.421 in 44.1 innings pitched. Morgan was named an All-Conference player after a tremendous and efficient 2023 baseball season, where he continued to be more consistent as the season progressed.

Johnson and Morgan will look to continue developing on the field in a pivotal offseason as they enter their senior year of high school. They will look to finish their final season at the high school level on a positive note after finishing the last two seasons in a crushing set of upsets in the first round of the regional tournament.

They are also preparing for the upcoming 2023 high school football season. Needless to say, Johnson and Morgan are not going to relax anytime soon, which they prefer.
