B.A. DeWoody

B.A. DeWoody, 79, of Camden, AR, passed away Wednesday, August 30, 2023. He was born August 15, 1944. He was the son of the late Bynum Alonzo DeWoody, Sr. and Wilma Ethridge DeWoody. He was a graduate of Fairview High School and Southern State University. He was a member of the Camden Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He retired from Arkansas State Health Department. B. A. DeWoody was a believer of Christ Jesus, and if you were fortunate to know him, you could see the love of Christ shine through him. The one thing B.A. would want you to know, is that Jesus saved him and will also save you.

Husband, Father, Grandfather (Papoo), and Friend are a few of the names B.A. was known by. He was a musician, singing with his dear friends in The Offbeats and The Revelators, and could play beautiful songs on the piano by ear. B.A. was a dancer, inspiring all ages to dance along with him. He was an avid outdoorsman, spending time hunting and fishing with his family and extended family at the Reader Sportsman Club. Lastly B.A. spent a lot of time cooking and grilling meats. His specialties were Camp Beans, using a secret recipe and pork butt that would make your mouth water.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Mildred DeWoody.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy DeWoody of Camden, AR; son Shawn DeWoody and wife, Lori of Camden, AR; two daughters, Kelly Foster and husband, Kyle of Little Rock, AR and Meredith Price and husband, Russell of Bentonville, AR; grandchildren, Colton DeWoody and Kerrstyn DeWoody both of Camden, AR, Logan Estes and Lauren Estes both of Little Rock, AR and Jackson Price of Bentonville, AR; host of family and friends.

Memorials may be made to Camden Cumberland Presbyterian Church 1545 California Ave., Camden, AR 71701.

Visitation will be 6:00-8:00PM Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Camden Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will be 2:00PM Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Camden Cumberland Presbyterian Church. The burial will be in Bluff City Cemetery. Proctor Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Rebecca Griffis

Rebecca (Becky) Kathleen Griffis, age 62, of Stephens, Arkansas passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 20, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 8, 1961, and graduated from Stephens High School in 1979. She went on to earn a degree in accounting from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia in 1983 and working as a cost accountant and controller during her career.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Keith Griffis; grandparents Bob and Lula Thomas and Ed and Faye Griffis.

Becky is survived by her daughter she loved dearly Kori Michelle Taylor and grandson Blake Russell Buchanan; parents, Ronnie and Evelyn Griffis; sister Rhonda Mason and husband Tim; a nephew Madison Mason and niece Meredith Pfirrman, as well as aunts, uncles, and cousins she enjoyed throughout her life.

At Becky's request, there will be no funeral. The family wants to thank the doctors, nurses and caregivers who took such excellent care of Becky.
