Meterologist says wind chill could reach negative 2 degrees by next week

Weather system to bring cooler temperatures by the weekend

While there is some question as to what form of winter precipitation Camden and surrounding areas might get, the fact that Monday and Tuesday will bring cooler weather is undeniable.

Justin Condry, a meteorologist at the National Weather in Little Rock said, "Right now we're looking for, especially that far south, the big question mark is 'How far does that kind of rain/ snow line make it? '... Camden might be a little too far south for much snowfall just because obviously it's gonna be warmer down there. Not to say that there couldn't be any, that's something that we're kind of trying to figure out- where that's going to happen and how much moisture is going to come in."

Condry said that while this weekend will see lows in the upper 20's, by Monday and Tuesday the temperature will be in the single digits, with windchill being a significant factor.

"We're definitely looking at cold air...Bundle up. Put extra layers on if you go outside. We're looking, especially Monday, the wind chill, it's possible, will drop into the negatives, especially at night. So kind of negative one negative 2 so it's gonna be a little windy. That'll make temperatures colder outside,"Condry said.

The Cameden Water utilities sent out a public service announcement advising residents to drip their water in order to avoid busted pipes

The statement reads, "With the forecast calling for temperatures this weekend and the first part of next week to be in the teens and single digits, Citizens need to be prepared for such low temperatures. Letting your faucets drip will prevent the water from standing still in your service lines which in turn allows it to freeze when temps are this low. It's always a good idea to know how and where to turn your water service off in case of an emergency and have the necessary tools available to do so. If your water service does freeze, go ahead and turn the water off until the weather has warmed up. Chances are, if your water lines have frozen you're going to have a busted water line when it thaws out, which can run your water bill up into the hundreds of dollars if neglected."

"Wrap outside faucets and if you have other structures or buildings with water service you need to consider those as well. Inspect those structures and buildings as soon as the temps get above freezing to be assured you don't have a busted line. If your home has a crawl space make sure the vents from the outside are closed or sealed off.

"Dripping water is a small price to pay for insurance to prevent your water service lines from freezing.

"Other things to consider is outside animals. Provide them with a warm place to get out of the wind and make sure their drinking water is not frozen for a long period of time."
